In 2015, Denise M. Gutierrez joined the College of Business and Economics at Cal State LA as Director of Development. She possesses more than 12 years of higher education experience with an extensive background in institutional advancement, fundraising, and corporate and foundation relations.
Denise has served on a number of committees and boards including Esperanza Scholarship Foundation, META (Making Education the Answer) Foundation, MALDEF Gala Committee and Inland Empire Hispanic Leadership Council. She is the recipient of The Spirit of La Verne Award for Inclusivity and Diversity, and Woman of the Year from the 32nd District, Congresswoman Grace Napolitano's Office.
Denise is no longer the first in her family to earn a college degree. She was inspired by her two children to return to school and earn her own degree. Additional inspiration has come from her youngest daughter, Erika Maria, who was born with a severe disability called Trisomy 18 and whose life expectancy was no more than 12 months. With love, determination and prayers; Erika lived 13 years. To this day, Erika continues to inspire her family to make a difference in the world.
Because education has made a tremendous impact in her life, Denise works diligently to support the community by inspiring others to pursue a college degree. She is always willing to help others reach their highest potential.
